Exercise Stress Test
An Exercise Stress Test, also known as a Treadmill Stress Test, is a key diagnostic procedure used to evaluate how well the heart responds to physical exertion. The test is commonly used to detect coronary artery disease (CAD), arrhythmias, and other cardiovascular conditions. It helps doctors assess the heart’s function and capacity during increased activity, providing valuable insight into heart health.

What the Exercise Stress Test Detects
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD): If blood flow to the heart is restricted due to blockages in the coronary arteries, the heart may not receive enough oxygen during exercise, leading to symptoms such as chest pain (angina) or shortness of breath.
- Abnormal Heart Rhythms (Arrhythmias): The test can identify arrhythmias that may only occur during physical exertion, which can increase the risk of heart failure or other serious heart conditions.
- Exercise-Induced Symptoms: The test helps identify symptoms like fatigue, chest pain, or dizziness that may indicate heart-related issues, helping doctors determine the cause.
